New Friends and Old Memories

Ken, Luis and I were fortunate enough to visit Lackland Air Force Base last week. We were there for a series of meetings with several groups hoping to build our bandwidth. It was a great week visiting old friends and meeting a few new ones. Ken has a tremendous past with Lackland and although I have a past there as well it is not nearly as colorful and as long standing as Ken’s. We were able to visit several of Ken’s friends that were still there working in various positions with the DoD and the TSA. Luis and I were lucky enough to hear a few “war stories” about our illustrious leader from first hand participants. The highlight of our visit from my perspective was visiting the Military Working Dog National Monument. Having met John Burnham in Jacksonville last year, it was a great pleasure for me to see the monument for the first time. Knowing that Ken Licklider contributed heavily to the construction of this memorial made it a surreal experience for me.

We also met a group of Security Forces Trainers while having breakfast one morning and it was an absolute pleasure to have tacos with our active duty military personnel. These are Air Force NCO’s who have been in the mix and are now passing along their experience and knowledge to our young new troops. Vohne Liche Kennels thanks you for your continued service for our great Nation and we hope that all of our Military’s men and women have a safe and happy holiday season wherever you may be.

Merry Christmas from all of us at Vohne Liche Kennels
